Mi hermano, my great parents came over at the same time…but from Finland 🇫🇮 (which was still a Russian protectorate).

They came to the US, though great grandma (Mummo in Finnish) Sofia had to go through Quebec as one of the daughters died on the ship and she wanted her interred in the ground and not at sea.

My mob came from Bessarabia in a pogrom in Czarist Russia at turn of 19th Century. Next London then Chicago and now sitting in the North Texas Plains. It's very important to know the stuff of our ancestors that hopefully informs us well today.
