Hi Ioan, great read as usual! What do you think some of the motivations were behind the rearrest if AMLO was not aware of the operation. From a military perspective, could this have something to do with correcting some the embarrassment of their previous attempts to catch him?

Hey Adam. Thanks much for the comment and great question. You also provide a great answer - the military also wanted to make up for the Culiacanazo, which was a dark day for them. The military is also gaining strength in Mexico and wants to show who is boss. All best for 2023 friend.

Hey there Nick,

Thanks for the comment and great point. There are mixed feelings to the Sinaloa cartel. I do feel there is I am afraid quite a lot of support though, especially in the countryside, but there are also plenty of people, especially in the city, who are very fed up with rule by the mob. Best there and keep in touch.

Thanks and great insights Bobby. Yes, it would be very hard to really have enough forces to quell all the cartel unrest in Culiacan - and even having more troops on the ground may just make it worse. But sadly, the people of Culiacan are living through a terrible time of car jackings, looting and shooting. All best there and best for 2023 friend.
